Status of CV Health in the U.S.: Defining the Importance of the AHA 2020 Goal

  • Less than 1 percent of the U.S. population has ideal cardiovascular health, according to the AHA’s definition of cardiovascular health.
  • Investigating trends in various populations can provide insights on how to promote improvement in specific groups.
  • Targeted efforts will be required at multiple levels within the community and healthcare environments to move the population towards more ideal cardiovascular health.
