Once again, AHA is double counting balloon angioplasties and stenting procedures as if they are different procedures when 95+% of ballooned patients also receive a stent. This overstatement is corroborated by data published by AHRQ, and CMS data showing that only about 350,000 PCI procedures were billed to Medicare which is half of the stenting procedures.
