Once again, AHA is double counting balloon angioplasties and stenting procedures as if they are different procedures when 95+% of ballooned patients also receive a stent. This overstatement is corroborated by data published by AHRQ, and CMS data showing that only about 350,000 PCI procedures were billed to Medicare which is half of the stenting procedures. I'm happy to provide additional supporting data. Wayne Powell Sr. Director for Advocacy and Guidelines Society for Cardiovascular Angiography and Interventions 202.741.9869 wpowell@scai.org
